If your idea of a perfect day is a good glass of wine, great food, dust on your boots and the pounding of hooves down a wide green field – then venture to the fields of Millamolong Polo Club for the Polo Carnival on April 30.

From humble beginnings, the Millamolong Carnival now attracts some of Australia’s best polo players (read ‘spunk on a horse’) resplendent in polished boots astride their powerful mounts. The 2011 Millamolong Polo Carnival promises a day of heart racing polo, family fun, generous food and fabulous regional wine, cider and beer. There’s no point resisting such an invitation!

Take the chance to prance around with the mandatory flute of fizz during the half time divot stomp or relax while your little people have their faces painted, hang out with the vintage car owners and visit the petting zoo and rides. The small folk will be ecstatic to hear the drumming of a helicopter taking off to drop heavenly lollies from the sky.The lucky finders of the golden ticket will take to the skies with the Helicruz helicopter.

That of course, is but a small part of this ‘carnivale de polo’! A drink you say? You could slip into the VIPS lounge (prepaid tickets only). You never know who you’ll see in this ‘Very Important Pony Shed’ but there will be lots of players (polo that is), plenty of comfortable lounges and an abundance of reds, whites and bubbles. Or head to the clubhouse bar (Beer ‘n Gear) and if all that stomping has made you peckish, the Trough and Fodder kitchen is the place to go for a hearty feed.

But – ‘a horse is a horse of course of course’ and a car is certainly faster... or is it? Well, let’s just find out! Our fastest pony lines up against a snazzy Volvo with loads more ‘horsepower’ – and a race is what we will have! Who will be the fastest from a standing start?

Nothing snooty here, just a day of merriment with food and entertainment a-plenty, finishing up with Hoof Hour (5 ‘til 9pm). Let us feed you and the younglings, the perfect antidote to witching hour.
